PIMCO Foundation's Giving Programs

PIMCO's commitments go beyond investment management. In addition to focusing on meeting our responsibilities to the people and institutions who rely on us to manage their retirement and investment assets, we contribute to the communities where we work and live by giving our time and resources through The PIMCO Foundation.

Grants Program

The PIMCO Foundation is the philanthropic arm of global investment management firm PIMCO. Through the Foundation, we seek and invest in strategic, high-impact opportunities through which we can address important community needs and organize for change.

Since our inception in 2000, we have granted more than $29 million to nonprofits that provide direct services to low-income and vulnerable individuals and families, that are focused on getting at-risk youth to and through college, and that address gender equality.

New this year: The PIMCO Foundation has moved to an invite-only process for our Education and Gender Equality focus areas. Invitations will go out at the end of March. Our Critical Community Needs focus area will remain an unsolicited call for applications.

We are in the final stages of nailing down our 2017 timeline and objectives. The RFPs below may change slightly. Final RFPs will be posted the last week of March.

To further understand our Grants Program and Community Support Sponsorships, we invite you to review the information below.

Grants Program Focus Areas

Critical Community Needs: As a firm that believes in contributing to the communities where our employees work and live, we seek to support organizations that address critical community needs in Orange County, CA and the New York Metro Area. Consideration is given to organizations that deliver integrated services that encompass food security, homelessness and housing, and workforce development.

  • This is an unsolicited call for applications. Organizations that meet the criteria as outlined in the RFP are welcome to apply.

Education: Regardless of socio-economic status, geography or background, we believe all individuals should have equal access to education. Through our Education focus area, we seek to support organizations that concentrate on early childhood (0-5 years) education and/or college access. When it comes to college access, we specifically seek to invest in innovative organizations that see low income, high-risk, first generation college students to and through college.

Gender Equality: Women comprise 70% of the world’s poorest people. Around the globe, women and girls bear a disproportionate amount of the consequences of war, violence, poverty, trafficking, and oppression of every kind. Here, we aim to invest in organizations that promote gender equality.

Community Support Sponsorships

Nonprofit organizations based in Orange County, CA and the New York Metro area are welcome to submit sponsorship requests to The PIMCO Foundation. Please note that Sponsorship is not the same as our Grants Program.

We offer two approaches to sponsorships, outlined below. Organizations may apply to both sponsorship opportunities.

  • Event Sponsorship: Underwriting costs for fundraising events (e.g., gala, luncheon, etc.)

  • Learning and Development Support: Costs associated with nonprofit staff attending a summit/conference (e.g., ongoing education, professional development, leadership training, etc.)
    • Open to organizations that have a pre-existing funding relationship with The PIMCO Foundation
    • Requests are reviewed on a rolling basis
    • Complete application
