PIMCO's Global Month of Volunteering was developed in 2009 to heighten the impact of our employees' worldwide volunteer efforts. Global Month is a celebration of our longstanding commitment to our communities, and a way for us to collectively and creatively have a meaningful impact around the world.
PIMCO’s flagship event began in 2009 as a solution to amplify the impact of volunteer efforts of our employee’s across the word. Now, in its 12th year, this PIMCO Acts initiative has evolved from the once, one week-long model to now a month-long model – engaging ~50% of our employees.
During this month where we make manifest our culture of service; our colleagues, families and friends across PIMCO’s global offices help build, enhance and maintain our local communities. We look forward to collectively volunteering and giving back.
This past year’s evolution enabled 2,715+ volunteers, including PIMCO employees, family members and friends to donate ~6,685 hours of service back to the community. Since GMV’s inception 11 years ago, 50% of our global employees now participate, and with this transition from a week to a month of engagement, participation rose by 32% from the prior year. Of our 167 GMV events, 38% were focused on SDG 2: Zero Hunger.
In 2019, through 167 Global Month activities, we provided meals, gardened, taught interview skills and resume writing workshops, mentored youth, cleaned up shelters, playgrounds, beaches and parks. Collectively each helped create true impact in our local communities.
